Interview prep

Walk in prepared.

Graduate interviews in South Africa usually combine a competency interview, an assessment centre and sometimes a technical test. Practise answers in the STAR format: Situation, Task, Action, Result.

Tell us about yourself.
Two minutes: your studies, one experience that shaped you, the skills it built and why this role is the logical next step. End with what you want to learn here.
Describe a time you worked in a team that struggled.
Pick a real example. Name the problem without blaming people, explain the specific action you took and give a measurable result. Close with what you would do differently.
Why do you want to work here?
Reference something concrete: a product, a value, a graduate programme rotation or a recent announcement. Link it to your own goals.
What is your greatest weakness?
Choose a genuine, non-critical weakness and show the system you use to manage it, with evidence that it is improving.
Do you have any questions for us?
Always yes. Ask what success looks like after six months, how graduates rotate, and what the team is working on next.
